Time on Solabren
The Solar Cycle
To understand the passage of time on Solabren one must understand the history behind it. Four thousand years ago, the lands, the people were starving. The sun, red and angry was cold to the world. It provided its angry light but little else as the world drifted from an unnatural autumn into the grips of a hateful winter. Snow gripped the land as bellies grumbled.
Many of those in the holy orders of many different races called to their Gods, praying, pleading while their stomachs grumbled hollow without hope for a morsel to fill it. Days passed into months, as months turned into an unforgiving year, the Gods were helpless at the predicament of their chosen peoples. Each one who was brought the prayers and pleas of the hungry and dying found them touched by the intensity of the sorrow each prayer carried. Though many attempted to ease the suffering within the limits of their spheres of influence, the Gods of all the races affected by this blight approached one another to discuss how best to remedy the situation.
Many days and nights passed as the Gods parleyed with one another. Debates, fiery arguments, and simple grand standings were made in the great Halls of Heaven. There those, mainly among the Xechotel deities who wished for evil things to be done upon the land to bring about souls for them to leech their power from, though that argument was summarily shot down by those who could not see the greater purpose with that other than a greedy attempt to attain more power, came to a far more reasonable conclusion, if the sun was the problem why not create a new one.
Though collectively the deities were powerful enough, there was one who was granted the power over the Light, Ishana. When the agreement was reached, the council of deities approached the lone goddess as she tended her garden of stars. The proposal was broached. She was asked if she would spare some of her Light for the people of Solabren. After careful consideration of a single night, Ishana went to her workbench and began crafting a sphere of light. Though she was skilled in crafting stars, this globe of light was difficult since ingredients were sparse since she assisted the Forgotten with the crafting of the original sun. It took many nights and days of trial and error before the sphere was sufficiently bright and to the satisfaction of the great Deities. With little ceremony, Ishana brought this glowing sphere into her heavenly space and hung it next to its elder brother. The light shone upon Solabren, bringing the warmth of spring to the world.
The Changes
Solabren was much like Earth is. The days were twenty-four (24) hours and there were close to 365 days in a solar year. However with the creation of a second sun, the days grew longer as the world settled in on a new schedule.
