Shiver Spire

Shiver Spire is a lonely black granite tower built upon the crest of a mountain deep within the Nine Spines mountain range. The Spire looms like a foreboding finger of doom pointing into the heavens. Its shadow spreads out across a lone river valley several thousand feet below. When this lonesome place was built in the early days of the Imperian Empire it was seen as a home to those magic users that had exhausted themselves in the exploration of Elrenhostem. Or at least that is the sugar coated memory the Spire had perpetrated early on. In fact, over the centuries that blackened finger of doom had become the home for those who were deemed magically insane or politically dangerous. The Spire became a place to tuck away those that were an embarrassment or who rivaled someone else for whatever position they were competing for. Shiver Spire became a hushed phrase whispered in conspiratorial tones in the shadows of the Imperian capital within a hundred years of being built and to this very day it is next to never spoken of for fear it will bring them to reside within the tower.
