Solabren is far older than many realize. Those who have followed the scholarly path have been able to tabulate and gather the world's history into several sections in which the world graduated from one era into the next.
Age of the Forgotten - From what scholars searching in some of the darkest corners of the world have discovered is that this was the time in which nameless beings, be them god or spirit created the world to their liking. The Nameless as they are referred to now, created the land, air, sea and all the creatures within them. They had a desire for company so they created the elves at the end of the time of creation.
Age of the Elves - First created by the Nameless as companions and pets, they slowly became the dominate being, spreading throughout the lands as they were known then. As they spread the Nameless ones began slipping away until one day they were gone. With the rise of the Elves, they became the keepers of the old magics, in tuned with the world around them as if they were one with nature. The honored the Nameless until no one remembered who they were. About the same time as the Nameless were forgotten, Man rose from some creator being and began to spread throughout the world like a wild fire.
Age of Swords and Tears - The birth of the Humans was not a peaceful endeavor. They spread across the lands followed everywhere by the sound of steel against steel, the crushing blows of hammers, the cries of pain and mourning of loved ones. The Elves were unprepared but soon learned to pick up the sword to defend their lands and their way of life. For many centuries, Humans carved away at the lands spilling blood of the Elven people and that of their own. It took nearly a thousand years before the elves admitted defeat and slowly began retreating to the most remote parts of the land ceding all that was lost to the humans.
Age of the Stars - One warm summer night nearly 4,000 years ago the sky grew bright as a star near to the size of the sun grew brighter until it blazed like a second sun. Many scholar and laymen believed it an omen of ill but were soon proved wrong. The sun and its second brought about a time of great prosperity. Growing seasons were longer, winters in most parts of Solabren are not as harsh as they once were and all is as it should be...
