The Pit of Nergael
Nargeal is Solabren's equivalent of Hell, the dank, dark underworld where the souls of passed sentients reside...and where many things much, much worse originate. The pit is hidden within the many thousands of square miles of the jungle of Eire. Only the most commited adventureres ever find the entrance to the underworld.
- (In order to find the Underworld, you need to create a search thread and then PM a staff member to find out if you've been succesful in your search. The more effort you put into your search, the more likely you are to find the entrance to the Pit of Nergael.)
- The Infernal Heath: The blasted, lifeless land surrounding the entrance to the Underworld, the Infernal Heath is a grayed circle that reaches out for several hundred square miles around the Mouth of Nergael. Nothing grows there, as the ground has soured. Nothing crawls, walks, slithers, or flies about the Infernal Heath that didn't originate from within the belly of Nergael...
- The Mouth of Nergael: The opening to the land of the dead, the Mouth of Nergael is an opening that leads down a tunnel into the Underworld. The opening itself is small in comparison to the Infernal Heath where it is hidden, being only a few hundred feet across. Still, it is the most distinguishing feature of the Infernal Heath. The tunnel that leads into the depths of Solabren is several miles long and no light penetrates more than five hundred feet into its length. Unlike it's counterpart at Caldrea, the Village of Worms, the Mouth of Nergael isn't guarded by monsters and doesn't make an almost verticle decent through catacombs of limestone and granite; instead, it relies on the difficulty in finding it amidst the Infernal Heath to guard it. Those who are lucky enough (or unlucky enough, as it were...) to find the Mouth of Nergael are welcome to descend into Solabren's crust...but they may regret it before it's all over...
- River of Blackness: The broadest, deepest, darkest river in all of Solabren, the River of Blackness is a putrid, almost stagnant body of water that is tainted from soured earth and blood. The water often makes the living who are over exposed quite ill, while it also houses horrible, indescribable creatures known as the Soulsuckers; venomous, hagfish like giants that consume any soul, living or dead, that would happen to spend too much time in the water. The river begins at the end of the Mouth of Nergael and stretches miles into the depths of the underworld in all directions. It takes a keen navigator to take his own boat across, while the boatman known as Yagot ferries the souls of the dead...
- Plain of Suffering: Cold, damp, and seemingly limitless, the Plain of Suffering is the dreary, pitch black land of the dead where the Cephlatoids and Drow originate. It is the home of the souls who were never truly good, but also not truly evil either; think of it as purgatory or limbo. This is also as far as the usual adventurer travels...if they even get this far.
- Solabren's Bowels: The fiery core of the planet, many many miles deep in the crust of Solabren. The damned, truly evil souls of the dead are condemned here, forever left to smolder amidst the burning cinders of damnation. Only the hardiest adventurers can survive here for any extended period of time, as the temperatures are almost always well over one hundred degrees and clean water is hard to come by.
