Near the first of Crestane a book, bound in human flesh and written in human blood, was found in the Eastern Marches of Zetomar after a particularly bad lightning storm. Hurricane force winds had laid down acres of trees and lightning had been so bad and several of the locals lost property and lives. When it was over, an elderly corn farmer was crossing the country side on mule back when he found the book. Within days he had fallen ill, and was taken in a wagon by his son to the Wenta Temple Complex. First healers amongst the ranks of the Priests’ determined they could not help the poor old farmer. Then, upon seeing the book, the High Council ordered the destruction of both the farmer, the son, and the wagon the book was transported in. They weren’t even buried; the Priests’, compelled by the horror of the nameless book, burned the bodies and the property on the spot. Word was dispatched immediately to Liosut, and Archmage Magar responded nearly immediately, making an almost instantaneous travel to the continent of Zetomar after having been landlocked on Imperia for near 130 years.
Archmage Magars research into the dread book brought about several terrible matters the Priests of Wenta were quick to cover up. Human sacrifice, utterings of words in tongues long thought dead to the annals of time, and revealing of knowledge so perverse and unspeakable that three of the Priests killed themselves before the 21st of Crestane. Then, on the 23rd of the Crestane, as word circulated amongst the ranks of men who dabbled in the occult, Wenta was invaded by the Army of the Elder Ones, a group of occult hunters who seek out the rarest and most powerful of bizarre artifacts in the world. A number of Priests and guards were slaughtered before the Archmage and the nameless book were taken into custody and whisked away into the vast expanse of the Orgon Wilderness in Agabah…
